59 W 44TH STREET, NEW YORK
The Algonquin Hotel rests on historic West 44th Street in the center of New York City, nine miles from La Guardia Airport and 17 miles from JFK and Newark International Airports. The hotel hosted the famed Round Table in the 1920s, comprised of American literary writers and icons including Harpo Marx, Dorothy Parker and George S. Kaufman. Since opening in 1902, the Algonquin Hotel has had major renovations, although the appeal and ambience of its history has been beautifully preserved. The style of the roaring '20s echoes in the lobby, which boasts antique desks, settees and chairs bathed in deep jewel tones of plum, mahogany, caramel and olive, creating the perfect spot for reading, writing and conversation. The Algonquin's Round Table Restaurant serves fresh seafood, roasted lamb and other delicacies.
